I literally do not see how anyone can ship dramione. If you ship dramione[,] you endorse racism and verbal abuse. End of story.

**correction mine.

The argument that shipping DHrendorses racism and verbal abuse is just another argument for saying that forgiveness is for certain people only, and that those who were of a specific opinion before are not entitled to opinions [that their present realities] make available to them. It is another argument for saying that “change” or “personal growth” is just for the people you think deserve the chance to. And the thing is, the plane we shippers operate on is a plane that affords growth for both Draco and Hermione, going to show that from that standpoint alone, we come out more inclined to spare grace.

If you take the time to understand where the whole ship is rooted, you’d see that what it offers us is a shot at redemption, not just for Draco, but Hermione as well. Shipping the two is an active decision to say that, “Hey, these two aren’t past vindication. They’re not bad enough not to be saved.” It’s especially intriguing in Draco’s case, because even his last name is a blaring signifier of his whole family being of “bad faith” - but DHroffers a space for him to choose, now, to have faith in the right things (himself, other people, this new world, forgiveness afforded to him). Or, as another argument, is association with Hermione (from his own agency or otherwise) enables him to clear his name of associations and bring forth new ones. Basically: it offers him a clean slate.

Now, I’m not saying that he can’t achieve that on his own, but “with Hermione” is an interesting interpretation of the whole redemption arc - and it’s a responsible reaction from recipients of pop culture.

And if that doesn’t explain anything, there’s this:

It’s become a cliche, this offer of forgiveness and absolution, and usually, it’s the only thing that people see when they contemplate the dynamics of Draco and Hermione’s relationship. But more than that, DHris a toppling of hierarchy. HP’s problem is not with Voldemort, and so defeating him hasn’t solved it. The problems were elitism, racism, pureblood supremacy over half-bloods/muggleborns, etc. Voldemort was only successful because others agreed. Case in point: there was a Tom Marvolo Riddle even after Salazar Slytherin died.

DHr is then effective because:

  1. They enable a Slytherin/Gryffindor dynamic, as opposed to the Epilogue’s Gryffindor/Gryffindor establishments. What’s problematic with the original setting is that basically nothing has been toppled - save for the previous dominant power. What happened is that it was only replaced by “the good guys”. There’s still no equality (Slytherins were still outcasts), just a shift in who’s powerful. With Draco and Hermione, we’re given an avenue through which we can explore a world in which Rowling was able to prove true the themes she tried to bring to life in the whole series.
  2. It’s an argument for saying that morality can be objective. This is more of a personal nature, but I believe in objective morality - and that’s what makes it more reminiscent of grace. Because forgiveness wasn’t waived - it was given, regardless of all the shit anyone’s ever done. No one justifies anyone. What is done is that we’re aware of what Draco, Hermione and all the others did throughout their storylines, but we expand our spaces and offer our hands to whoever will repent enough to take it.
  3. Conclusion: DHr is about forgiveness, grace and (I could be wrong here but I’m probably not) political/social/humanistic justice.

Now, if you still can’t literally see (or read, whatever) how someone can ship dramione, I would suggest having your eyes checked.

tl;dr: please stop posting stupid things in our tag.

would you still wrap me up and tell me that you think this was smart

Anonymous sent: omg I noticed that you're reading Broken! How are you liking it so far? It's one of my top 5 most fav fics of all time and it excited me that you're reading it lol :D

It is very interesting so far to say the least :) I am currently on chapter 5.

I am quite unsure of how I like the characterisation of some people in it but everything is explained well enough in terms of the reasons the characters are acting the way they are so I am ignoring the OOC-ness for now.

Also it apparently doesn’t have any smut in it but as long as the romance is there and real then I don’t really mind.

The chapters are nice and long which is good and they are quite detailed.

So yea…so far so good :)

The Nietzsche Classes by Beringae (Rated M)
The Ministry takes action against the remaining prejudice in the wizarding society and asks Hermione for help. “What do you want? Money? Power? Name your price, Granger. I’m not about to let pride get in my way when an Azkaban sentence is on the line.”

COMPLETE: Yes
TYPE: Multi-Chapter
CATEGORY: Post-War

MY OPINION: I absolutely love the characterisation of both Draco and Hermione in this fic and even though the smut isn’t actually as smutty as I like it…it is so tastefully and artistically written. The story itself is beautiful and interesting and I love the history aspects presented in this along with the theories. The beginning first few chapters were like reading the most interesting history/philosophy book in the world and the rest of it was dramione goodness.
